Cookie Policy
Last updated: 5 August 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how House of Jahan Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on houseofjahan.co.uk. It should be read with our Privacy Policy. It is written for visitors in the United Kingdom under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, and scripts that collect information about how the site is used. Some cookies are essential for the site to work. Others help us understand traffic, improve content, or support marketing — and those require your consent in the UK before they are set.
2. How we ask for your consent
When you first visit, a banner lets you:
- Accept all cookies (essential + non-essential)
- Reject non-essential cookies (essential only)
- Read this Cookie Policy and our Privacy Policy
Your choice is stored in an essential cookie named hoj_cookie_consent for up to 180 days. You can change it at any time using “Cookie settings” in the website footer. Rejecting non-essential cookies will not stop the site from working.
3. Cookie categories we use
3.1 Essential cookies
These are necessary for security, basic site functions, forms, hosting, and remembering your cookie preference. They do not require consent under PECR.
| Name / type | Purpose | Duration (typical) |
|---|---|---|
hoj_cookie_consent |
Stores whether you accepted all cookies or essential-only. | Up to 180 days |
| WordPress session / auth cookies | Used if you log into WordPress admin; keep you signed in and secure the session. | Session or as set by WordPress |
| Hosting / CDN / security cookies | May be set by Hostinger or related infrastructure for load balancing, security, or delivery of the site. | Varies by provider |
| Form anti-spam fields | Honeypot and related checks on contact/newsletter forms to reduce bot submissions (not used for advertising). | No persistent marketing cookie |
3.2 Analytics cookies (non-essential)
These help us understand how visitors use the site — for example pages viewed, traffic sources, and device type — so we can improve content and performance. They are only enabled through our theme if you choose “Accept all”.
| Tool | Purpose | Provider |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | Measures site usage and performance once a Measurement ID is configured in the site settings. Scripts load only after “Accept all”. | Google Ireland / Google LLC — see Google’s privacy and cookie notices |
Google may process analytics data on servers outside the UK. Where that involves an international transfer, appropriate safeguards under UK data protection law apply as described in our Privacy Policy.
3.3 SEO, performance, and marketing tools (non-essential)
We may use tools that help with search visibility, site performance monitoring, or (if introduced later) remarketing. Examples of categories we may use include:
- Search and SEO tooling (for example Google Search Console on our side — this does not usually set cookies on your device when you simply browse the public site)
- Optional on-site SEO or heatmap / behaviour tools, if we enable them later
- Optional advertising or social pixels, if we enable them later
Any non-essential on-site script that sets cookies or reads device storage for analytics or marketing will be blocked by our theme until you Accept all, and we will update this Cookie Policy when a new tool is added.
4. What we do not do without consent
If you Reject non-essential cookies, our theme will not load Google Analytics (or other consent-gated analytics/marketing scripts we control). Essential cookies and strictly necessary hosting functions may still run.
5. How long cookies last
Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies last for a set period (for example our consent cookie lasts up to 180 days) or until you delete them. Third-party tools such as Google Analytics set their own durations; check the provider’s documentation for current details.
6. Managing cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Guidance is usually available in your browser’s help pages. Blocking essential cookies may affect forms, security features, or login.
7. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this page when we add or remove tools. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Significant changes may also be reflected in the cookie banner or Privacy Policy.
